Er basiert auf dem Jodel D.10-Projekt und stellt eine Weiterentwicklung des DR.100 dar. Das Flugzeug wurde ursprünglich als dreisitziger Tiefdecker mit starrem Spornradfahrwerk und einem 100-PS-Continental-O-200-Motor konzipiert.
